HARBOUR DAM - Construction

Construction of a harbour dam at Oostende

Herbosch-Kiere was awarded, along with 2 additional partners, the contract to extend the Harbour of Ostend. These works were divided into three phases. Two dams were built in the sea using 800,000 tons of of stone. The aim was not only to improve the naval accessibility of the harbour but more importantly to provide increased protection to the Belgian coast in the event of flooding.
